THE ART OF UN-DIETING: HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT DIETING

SECRET 2: WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT

We all know a friend that is looking absolutely incredible after losing a lot of weight.  You then ask her what she did, and then, for the next hour you sit there quietly, while your friend shares all the details of the latest magic diet.  Most of us will then try the magic diet ourselves.  Surely if my friend can lose all that weight, I can too?  Then after a month of drinking weird looking smoothies for breakfast and having cabbage soup for dinner…….nothing happens.  Or worse case scenario, you feel tired, depressed, deprived and that dress you were hoping to wear to your niece’s wedding, doesn’t fit!

The reason for this is that we are all different.  So many of us are confused about what we should do to be healthy and lose weight.  Are carbs good or bad?  Is it okay to be a vegan or does my body need animal protein?  Do I need to eat 6 small meals per day or is it okay to have only 3?  And then what about intermittent fasting?

We all have different needs and you owe it to yourself to listen to your body and eat delicious healthy food that is right for you.  What might work for you, might not work for your friend or spouse.  The latest diet craze might work for your favourite celebrity but might make you feel depleted and sad.

Eat a variety of delicious healthy food.  Real food, food without fancy packaging or a list of ingredients.  Eat lots of veggies, drink water, be active.  Eat when you are hungry, rest when you are tired, relax when you are stressed, step back when you are overwhelmed.  Listen to your body.
