Who doesn’t like a beef burger?  I’m not talking about these sad bun-less burgers with a beef patty, lettuce leave and a few slices of tomato.  I’m talking about the best grain free beef burger you’ll ever have.  Think juicy home-made beef patty, topped with zesty guacamole and crispy fried onion and garlic bits.  All of this on top of the most delicious roast potato “bun” you’ll ever have!  This is a real crowd pleaser and 100% kids approved GUARANTEED!  And if you are on the whole 30 eating plan, you can thank me now 😀.

Think juicy home made beef patty, zesty guacamole, crisply fried onion and garlic bits on top of the best roast potato you'll ever have!

Ingredients
  • 1.5kg beef mince
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp almond flour
  • ½ tsp dried italian herbs
  • 1 small red onion finely diced
  • 5 slices chorizo finely diced (for whole 30, check the ingredients)
  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
Directions
  • Step 1 For the beef patty, combine all the ingredients (excluding the potato and coconut oil) in a large bowl and mix well with your hands.
  • Step 2 Use your hands to form 6 medium sized beef patties about 2 cm thick.
  • Step 3 Place on a tray covered with parchment paper on chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Step 4 For the potato “buns”, preheat the oven to 180℃.
  • Step 5 Cut each potato horizontally in half.
  • Step 6 Slice off the bottom edge of six of the potato halves to create a flat surface. This will be the bottom “bun”.
  • Step 7 Par-cook the potatoes for a few minutes.
  • Step 8 Prick each potato with a toothpick a few times.
  • Step 9 Brush with melted coconut oil and roast in the oven for 45 min to an hour or until cooked, golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Step 10 While the potatoes are roasting, brush each beef patty with a little coconut oil and fry in a non-stick pan until cooked.  We prefer our patties medium rare.
  • Step 11 Assemble the burgers by placing a beef patty on top of the bottom potato “bun”.
  • Step 12 Top with guacamole and crispy fried onion and garlic bits.
  • Step 13 Cover the burger with the top potato “bun” or let it rest agains the side of the burger.
