One of my all time favourite smoothies is The Gem from Kauai. It’s a yogurt, banana, nut and honey delight. We’ve tried to re-create the gem without using dairy or refined sugar and by adding some good for you superfood. The result is pretty good and it’s quickly becoming my daughter’s go to breakfast treat.
Nutty vanilla smoothie - dairy and refined sugar free

A delicious nutty vanilla smoothy that is dairy and refined sugar free and good for you.
Ingredients
- 400 ml water
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 heaped tbsp nut butter
- ½ tsp vanilla extract or powder
- 1 medjool date
- 1 tsp maca powder
- pinch of salt
- pinch of cinnamon
- few blocks of ice - optional
Directions
- Step 1 Combined all the ingredients in a blender and blend for a few minutes until smooth.
- Step 2 Pour into two glasses and serve immediately.
